Commonly Asked Questions

1. How can we schedule a tour?

Our tours are by appointment only and there are a few different ways to schedule a visit! Either go to the “Contact” page on our website to submit an inquiry, email us at info@fathomgallery.org or give us a call directly at 202.588.8111 for scheduling.

2. Is there a sound system we can use?

Yes, we have an inhouse sound system available for use. Clients have access to our iPad while they are onsite to control the music selection and volume during their event!

3. Do you allow bands and DJs?

We allow DJs at Fathom Gallery 14th Street, and we allow both bands and DJs at Fathom Gallery Georgetown. We just require that they set up their equipment inside our gallery, and music played outside would be through our sound system (we like to be courteous neighbors!).

4. Can we set up custom decorations?

Absolutely, just within limits. We ask that you do not use nails, screws, command hooks, confetti or glitter. We allow candles with live flames onsite, but they must be within an enclosed votive or holder. If you have any unique décor ideas, we just ask that you run them by us first so we can make sure you’re good to go.

5. Do you have a kitchen or catering area onsite?

We have designated catering areas at both of our Fathom Gallery locations that allow catering to do their prep and work behind the scenes. Both venues have the kitchen basics onsite, and catering will provide the rest of the equipment needed to execute their menus.

6. Is there Wi-Fi available in the space?

Yes, we have commercial-grade Wi-Fi complimentary to use!

7. Do you have a bridal suite?

Fathom Gallery 14th Street has a third-floor penthouse with a prep room that is often used as a bridal suite! The space has 2 full bathrooms, a full-length mirror, and fabulous natural lighting for photos and getting ready. At Fathom Gallery Georgetown there is a small flex room that can be used as a bridal suite/getting ready area, and there is a full-length mirror onsite available to use in that space!

8. Do you have an event planner on-staff?

There will be a venue representative onsite on day-of to assist with any venue related questions (sound system, lighting, etc.) but if you are looking for a planner we recommend contacting one of the planners on our preferred list!

9. Do we need insurance?

Yes, we require “Day of Event Insurance” for all events here. You can obtain insurance through your provider, and we also have instructions on how to purchase the insurance through our recommended carrier to make things easy!

10. Is the venue ADA accessible?

Fathom Gallery Georgetown is ADA accessible. However, Fathom Gallery 14th Street is located on the second floor of our building and there is not an elevator onsite.

11. What is the alcohol service/ management policy?

We have a preferred list of caterers, and all caterers provide the bartending staff for the event to serve the alcohol. Clients are allowed to provide their own alcohol for the event and drop it off the day before, so there is one less thing to do day-of! Leftover alcohol can be picked up after the event as well.

12. Can we hold a date for our event before officially booking?

Yes, we’ll happily hold a date free of charge! We’ll hold a date until there’s another client interested in the date, and at that point the client holding the date is given 24-hour notice to either confirm the booking or release the hold.

13. Can we have our stuff dropped off the day before? How about picking up the day after?

Definitely! We allow clients to drop off alcohol and some decor pieces the day before their event. However, there is a limited amount of space and we do not allow everything to be brought in advance. The same goes for after the event. We encourage clients to take as much as they can after the event, but we do allow clients to leave some items for pickup the next day!

14. Where can we park/is there a parking lot?

We do not have a parking lot onsite at either of our locations, but Fathom Gallery 14th Street guests typically use the Washington Plaza Hotel paid lot or street parking. At Fathom Gallery Georgetown we recommend using the paid lot at Georgetown Park or street parking in the area. We also work with MJ Valet as our preferred valet vendor if you’re interested in offering that option for your guests!

15. What is the capacity?

The maximum capacity at Fathom Gallery 14th Street is 125 guests for a standing reception, or 65 guests for a seated dinner inside the gallery. The maximum capacity at Fathom Gallery Georgetown is 150 guests, and this is for either a standing reception or a seated dinner inside the gallery.

16. Can we use a caterer not listed in the planning packet?

We encourage clients to work with a caterer from our preferred list, but we do allow outside caterers. We have a checklist with all items we need to move forward with an outside caterer, and there is a one-time fee upon approval. Fathom Gallery will decline the use of an outside caterer if they do not meet our requirements.

17. Do you include any furniture?

Yes, there is furniture included in all of our rentals at both Fathom Gallery locations!

18. Do you have artwork on display?

We have standard artwork hanging on a day-to-day basis, but for all of our events we offer custom photo framing for our clients. Just email us 10 images, and then we will print, frame, and hang them for your event. The photo prints are size 12×18 and you get to keep the prints after your event.

17. Do you include any furniture?

Yes, there is furniture included in all of our rentals at both Fathom Gallery locations!

19. Do you require security?

Yes, security is required at all events. Fathom handles booking the security guard and the client is responsible for the fee.

20. Do you have any hotel partners?

Yes, we do! The Georgetown Inn is our go-to hotel partner at Fathom Gallery Georgetown, and The Viceroy, The Darcy, The Kimpton Banneker Hotel and The Washington Plaza Hotel are our hotel partners at Fathom Gallery 14th Street.

The Fathom Gallery 14th Street provided such a uniquely charming setting in the heart of DC to host our wedding ceremony and reception, and we could not have been more thrilled with our choice of venue! Both the indoor space and the patio provided a beautiful backdrop to bring our vision to life in a way that made it feel like it was truly designed just for us. The layout at Fathom allows for so much flexibility for any couple to create the event of their dreams, and Meg + the Fathom team were very responsive and helpful as we made our wedding dream a reality. We opted for an intimate ceremony (approx. 30ppl) on the patio followed by a larger reception (approx. 90ppl) using the full space, and it turned out beautifully! Meg and Emily helped bring our dream DC wedding to life! Having grown up and dated in the DC area, we wanted to find a place that represented our backgrounds and relationship, but wasn't run of the mill... enter Fathom Gallery. We initially were interested in the 14th Street location, but given our headcount, needed a bigger space. Luckily, the Georgetown location opened a few months before our wedding, and we felt like scored something funky and different! The space itself is right below Compass Coffee, and right by the iconic Georgetown sign. We loved the dreamy courtyard (perfect for an intimate ceremony or cocktail hour) & the indoor space is spacious and modern. The gallery will frame ten pictures of your choice so we were able to feature our favorite engagement photos (and reduce extraneous decor). Meg and Emily were extremely responsive and professional throughout the whole process. They offered great vendor referrals (specifically our wedding planner) and remained our contacts from beginning to end. We would love the chance to have another event there in the future – highly recommend!
